In April 1971 a group of ladies met to discuss forming a chapter of Sweet Adelines. The first meeting was held in May 1971 with 10 members in attendance. Blanche Moore was the first director, Brock Lupton filled in after Blanche had to step down until Maxine Gunoff took over as director. 

 

During this first year:

- Attended the first mini school in Penticton with Babs Babcock and Shirley Raike directing 

- Several members attended the music school in Burnaby directed by Ardith Scherf

- A carload of ladies travelled to Victoria for their first show

- September the Board of Directors were appointed

- Supported the Men’s Barbershop Charter Night by ushering

- Had 4 sing outs to the hospital and senior citizens homes

- Held out first guest night in January 1972 with 9 Penticton members in attendance

- Travelled to Calgary to watch Competitions

- Sang at the Easter Seal Camp for handicapped children & adults

- Received our Charter July 1972
